David Camacho: E-mail
David is a licensed lawyer from Colombia who has worked primarily on corporate, insolvency and natural resources issues, particularly structuring foreign investments related with the mining and oil and gas industry. He has extensive experience providing legal services to design corporate structures and drafting required deeds to this end, as well as negotiation and implementation of mining and oil and gas agreements. Likewise, he has experience with different models of regulation and state control implemented in diverse jurisdictions over its hydrocarbon and mining resources.
Additionally to be Foreign Legal Consultant at SOLORZANO CORPORATION in Colombia, David runs the Legal Department of one of the major gold mining companies in the country. He previously served as lawyer at the Pontifical University Javeriana developing its procurement manual; he also worked in a trust company as legal counsellor and three years as associate in a Colombian Law Firm named Ucrós & Associates, assisting several clients on successfully establishing their businesses in Colombia as well as restructuring and supporting insolvency issues in private companies.
David’s law degree is from the Pontifical University Javeriana where he graduated in 2004. He also held a postgraduate degree in Commercial Law from Los Andes University in Colombia and a Master of Laws (LLM) in the field of Oil and Gas from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, U.K. Additionally, in 2011 he attended the Mining Agreements program of the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at The University of Dundee, Scotland U.K.
Ivan Carvallo: E-mail
Iván is a licensed lawyer from Mexico with experience mainly in tax law, as well as matters relating to the energy sector in Mexico, including both hydrocarbons (oil and gas) and electricity (regardless its primary source, whether fossil or renewable).
Prior to joining SOLORZANO CORPORATION, Iván worked in the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Mexico City, specifically in the Office of the Minister, reviewing, among other things, cooperation agreements between the Federal Government and the Government of Mexico City, regarding the transference and administration of federal funds. During law school, Iván practiced in a law firm specialized in the development of public and private energy projects in Mexico, principally in the electricity, oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. Furthermore, in 2005 Iván carried out an internship at the legal department of PEMEX – Gas & Basic Petrochemical, where he drafted and reviewed natural gas supply contracts.
Iván obtained his Law Degree and Tax Law Diploma from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico, in 2006 and 2007, respectively. In 2009, Iván earned his LL.M. Degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. And in June, 2011, received his LL.M. Degree in Energy Law from Formación Cremades & Calvo – Sotelo, in Madrid, Spain.
Stella Mateus: E-mail
Stella is a licensed lawyer from Colombia who has worked primarily on banking law, securitization, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, foreign exchange, corporate and project finance; particularly structuring foreign investments related to international commerce and financial trust administration. Stella has extensive experience providing legal and commercial advice to clients and structuring their international trade transactions. Furthermore, she has experience dealing with local and international taxation model laws and practices as well as private international law regarding competent jurisdictions in the UE.
Before joining SOLORZANO CORPORATION, Stella provided legal advice to various Import and export trade companies. She also served as Trusts Coordinator at Fiducoldex S.A. Trust Company, being responsible of managing financial operations and coordinating a trust legal department focus on settling disputes. Stella also served as Secretary of the Fund Investments Committee of the company and represented it in the Administrative Committee of Trustees. Previously, Stella worked as lawyer at the Proexport Trust Legal Division, drafting, negotiating and documenting commercial agreements included international sale and supply of goods and services, franchise agreements, license agreements, agency/distribution agreements.
Stella´s law degree is from la Sabana University where she graduated in 2006. She also held a Diploma in Commercial Contracts from the Pontifical Javeriana University, a postgraduate degree in Financial Legislation from Los Andes University in Colombia and a Master of Laws (LLM) in the field of International Commercial Law from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, U.K.
Jorge Miranda: E-mail
Jorge is an Accountant and Manager from Mexico having worked in the private and public sector in Mexico and private sector in Canada. Previous positions involved business relations, contract negotiations, strategic planning and business analysis.
Prior to joining Solorzano Corporation Jorge accumulated over 16 years of managerial and accounting experience in the service industry for both Mexican and Canadian Companies. He has a strong professional background on Tax Planning for individuals and corporations doing business in Mexico. Having succeeded as business owner in Mexico and as a Manager in Canada, Jorge has also provided consulting services to a number of organizations in Mexico and Canada.
Jorge accounting degree is from the University of Guanajuato, where he graduated in 1996 and obtained his accounting degree by defending the thesis “Tax and Accounting Requirements for Mexican Middle Size Corporations involved in Exporting and/or Importing activities”. Jorge also has a Diploma in Business Administration from the Technological Institute of Monterrey Campus Leon.
Miguelangel Sandoval: E-mail
Miguel is a licensed lawyer from Mexico, specialized in issues related to intellectual property, contracts, debt recovery and foreclosure. He has extensive experience in matters related with companies, from its incorporation, share’s structure, due diligence, and in general all the corporate governance required by Mexican laws
He served as a lawyer in Bitar, Marcin & Associates for 7 years, from 1999 to 2006, in which he was mainly devoted to manage a portfolio of litigation matters, which included clients such as Banks, and automotive companies. Later he served at Berumen, Roiz, Lawyers, where he was in charge of the area of international law for 3 years, from 2006 to 2009.
Miguel’s law degree is from La Salle University in Mexico (ULSA), where he graduated in 2003 and obtained his law degree by defending the thesis “Unconstitutionality of Section 1117 of the Mexican Commercial Code.”
Miguel is fluent in English and Portuguese.
Carlos Solórzano: E-mail
Carlos is a licensed lawyer from Mexico, having worked primarily on corporate and commercial issues, particularly structuring foreign investments to comply with Mexican laws. He has extensive experience regarding the formation of corporations and limited liability companies (its equivalents in Mexico), negotiation and implementation of joint ventures and strategic alliances and real estate transactions involving commercial, residential and mixed-use developments.
Prior to partnering for the launching of SOLORZANO CORPORATION, Carlos served for 3 years as a consultant with the Canadian Law Firm Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, assisting several clients on successfully establishing their businesses in Mexico. From 2002 until to 2005 Carlos worked for the Mexican Consulate in Calgary promoting investment from Alberta to Mexico by providing potential investors with guidelines for conducting business in Mexico. Before moving to Canada in 2002, Carlos practiced law with top tier law firms in Mexico representing Mexican and non-Mexican clients.
Carlos law degree is from Technological Institute Autonomous of Mexico (ITAM) where he graduated in 1998 and obtained his law degree by defending the thesis “Municipal Bond, an alternative for the financing of municipal governments”.
